“De tal palo, tal astilla”
” A chip off the old block”
If we look beyond ourselves in search of something different to photograph, it is often the mundane in nature that allows us to reconnect to that certain root of self. Through this collection of stumps, plants and tubers, I have attempted to find humanity in these anthropomorphic shapes, and to impart to them a whimsical and humorous factor.
Luis Delgado-Qualtrough’s photographic work integrates narrative and sequential still images to create idea-driven content. His work has evolved from documentary to a more personal style using humor and constructed images, which reflects his Mexican origins, his European humanist education, and an American quest for the new. His works have been exhibited worldwide, and his prints and artist books have been widely exhibited and are held by many museums, institutions, and private collectors.
