Zona is Siberian slang for prison. During two years, 2000-2002, Carl de Keyzer documented daily life in 35 of the 135 prison camps in the region of Krasnoyarsk.
In a territory as large as Europe, prisoners live in this “country” and constitute a free labor force of some one million men and women
